A cool weather grain traditionally cultivated in late summer - fall to germinate overwinter to revitalize poor soils with nitrogen, while its roots breakup compacted soils. Use as an all purpose flour grain. Let dry for use as a flour for biscuits, gravies and sauces, and cakes. Great milling quality! Can be grown in the garden direct sow in the late fall or as a container grown wheat. Winter wheat produces a higher yield than spring sown wheat varieties. Many use stems in flower arrangements. It will take 120 days to have nicely developed heads, harvest when seeds no longer have a milky appearance when cut open (when grain is good and dry) Seed can be stored for many years in a cool dry place.
