When it produces the red bulbs, when you squeeze them, they produce a sweet smelling fragrant gel used in bath and body products. Great soap when out gardening! Smells great! They are perennials in the south and come back every late spring when it warms up again. They will keep multiplying underground so you will have a nice area of them in time (see pics 2 and 3).
